Reading Consultant

POSITION & PURPOSE

Read Right consultants establish reading improvement projects in schools and corporations throughout the United States and Canada.
 

DESCRIPTION OF OPPORTUNITY

Read Right Systems has developed unique and proven instructional methodologies for reading that far surpass the competition. The market for this breakthrough program is immense. Every school district and individual school administrator in the country faces a critical problem-how to help those students who can't read well enough to do the assigned work. Read Right offers the best and most cost-effective solution available anywhere to eliminate reading problems.

Extensive training is provided for Read Right Consultants. No previous experience in teaching is required.

The position affords the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of the individual students and therefore to society as a whole. It is rare to have an opportunity to become a catalyst for significant transformation in someone else's life and to witness the transformation first-hand. The work is very rewarding.

QUALIFICATIONS and QUALITIES

  • Are excellent readers

  • Are excellent tutors

  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of Read Right theory and methodology

  • Are excellent trainers who are able to teach the theory and methodology to tutors

  • Are skilled both at evaluating tutors and overall progress of a project
    Are willing to commit to a minimum of 50% travel time; 2 weeks per month, often 3.

  • Accept and apply feedback as a tool to help them grow as consultants

  • Have high standards of quality and a strong work ethic

  • Are reliable, punctual and proactive

  • Are assertive

  • Effectively communicate

  • Are mature

  • Are self-sufficient on the road

  • Are self-confident

  • Are politically astute

  • Have a college degree

  • Endorse confidentiality and non-compete agreements before training begins

  • Participate in and pass criminal background checks

  • Adhere to state and federal laws applicable to discrimination and abuse in the workplace
     

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Read Right consultants are responsible for the successful implementation of the projects to which they are assigned and for effectively presenting and promoting Read Right to prospects and to current clients.
 

Read Right Consultants:

1.  Train assigned staff to become excellent tutors and trainers. Training includes:

  • Teaching the theory upon which the program is based and hands-on training in the Read Right methodology.

  • Performing individual student assessments.

  • Using the project management and student management systems, assessment kits, training materials, reporting systems and quality assurance systems.

  • Training tutors to use the tutoring manual.

  • Training trainers to use the training manual.

  • Daily tutoring of tutors who are not excellent readers.

  • Assuring all paperwork, student files, consultations, attendance systems, start-up reports, daily progress, monthly reports are done thoroughly.

2.   Keep themselves, key school or corporate personnel and Read Right informed of project progress.

3.   Make group presentations for teachers, staff and parents at school sites or with prospective students and administrative staff at corporate sites.

4.   Verify that the site information is current and is used appropriately.

5.   Immediately following a site visit, submit reports on tutor progress and overall project progress and concerns to the Read Right office.

6.   Serve as lead consultant for selected sites.

7.   Are alert for opportunities to introduce Read Right to potential clients and help promote Read Right.

8.   Are alert to potential hazards to the project, such as staff turnover and management issues, and communicate concerns to the Read Right office.

 

COMPENSATION

Read Right Consultants are paid about $800 per week during training. Those accepted begin then at about $1000 per week and may advance to about $1400 per week with experience. Consultants are typically assigned about 25 weeks of the year. Assignments to locations around the U.S. are for one to three weeks. Supplemental pay for travel time, consecutive weeks away and sales and marketing projects all may contribute to annual income. All travel expenses are fully covered. Benefits include medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and a 401K plan including a company match.
